President
Gary Dolsen
Gary has lived with his wife in the Tall Timbers neighborhood of Sugarloaf for 25 years, where they raised their son from birth and have been evacuated five times. By trade he is a software exec, market strategist, entrepreneurial coach/mentor, and occasional CU Leeds lecturer. Since 2021 he has served a volunteer with the American Red Cross as a dispatcher, disaster field responder, and damage assessment specialist. Those roles build on many of the skills he acquired as a Sugar Loaf firefighter, where he responded on hundreds of calls over a nine year period, including driving a tender on the Fourmile Canyon Fire initial attack.
Vice President
Adam O’Connor
My wife Amanda & I have lived in the Tall Timbers “banana belt” of lower Sugarloaf since 2006 and I’m ecstatic to contribute to the SLFPD organization that has selflessly helped our community during the Fourmile Fire, 2013 floods and other mutual aid events. I am astounded by the level of commitment of our local Sugar Loaf fire department volunteers for their dedication and sacrifice in serving our community during natural disasters or emergency medical/rescue events (and of course, the beloved Memorial Day garage sale!). As a local Sugarloaf resident I have first-hand experience with some of the issues our community encounters including property fire mitigation, well water quality, residential property tax rates, and challenges getting adequate homeowners insurance coverage. As a member of the SLFPD board I hope to apply some of my professional background working in the Earth sciences and GIS industries for the past 25 years including government grant proposals, federal regulations compliance, financial budgeting, 501(c)(3) exemptions and project management. I’m excited to collaborate with our friends and neighbors in the Sugarloaf community to help the SLFPD volunteer fire department in any way I can during my 4-year term on the board of directors!
Treasurer
Dan Conser
I have lived on Sugarloaf since 2010 and in the Boulder foothills since 1998. I was also raised in a volunteer fire community and my mom served on the auxiliary for over 25 years - women were not allowed to be firefighters at that time. I recognize the value our community receives from the Sugar Loaf Fire Protection District (SLFPD) and I am honored to be able to serve the SLFPD and the Sugarloaf community. In my current role as Treasurer, I look to continuously streamline our financials to effectively manage expenses while also improving our grant management processes to ensure we are receiving all that SLFPD is entitled to.
Professionally, I work remotely for an enterprise automation software start-up. Prior to that, I worked for a project based accounting software firm. Needless to say, I understand the importance of fiscal responsibility. I have an MBA from CU Boulder and a broad range of professional experience from start-ups to emerging growth to global Fortune 100 companies.

My wife and I moved to the Sugarloaf community in 2015. Since living here, we've had the opportunity to volunteer for the fire department on many occasions and have come to truly appreciate the effort that all the volunteers and community members put into our department and the district. As a member at large, my focus will be to support our board president, vice-president, and treasurer in the effective governance of the district, and enable the chief, officers and firefighters of our department to continue serving this community at their exceptional level of excellence. It is an honor and privilege to serve you on the SLFPD Board.
