Sugarloaf District Maps
Maps
Below are the links for the district maps. Since Avenza only allows you to import three maps at a time, the ones with an * are the most important. If you have them all downloaded on your phone you can remove from and import to Avenza as needed.

You can download the Avenza app here for iPhone or here for Android devices.
Directions
To add a map into Avenza
Download the app to your smartphone or tablet using the above links.
Click on the link above for the map you wish to add to Avenza. Remember the name of the map.
Click the + button and then choose “Download or import a map.”
Choose “From Storage Device” under the "Import Your Own Maps Section”
Choose the map you wish to install.
NOTE: You can only import three maps with the free version of the app. If you need more, you will have to delete one of the maps from Avenza and add the other. Or purchase the Pro version of the app.
To Remove or Update a Map
If you need to update a map that’s installed on your device, follow the instructions below to remove the current one and then follow the instructions above to add the new one. To remove a map:
Open Avenza and press “My Maps at the bottom if it doesn’t take you there automatically.
Long press on the name of the map you wish to remove or update.
Press the trash can button at the top to remove it and hit OK.
To Add a Map With a .kml or.kmz extension (from John Winchester)
In Avenza, open any map that includes the District.
Press the pin-with-flags (top-right side of screen), then the orange circle with lines through it (bottom-right corner of screen), then Import Map Features.
Select either From Device Storage or From The Web, and point to the file “SLFPD_Hydrants.kml” (case sensitive).
Notes:
This will add pins for each climbing area to the map. By default the name flags will be closed. You can tap on the pins to open the name, but to find a particular location, while looking at the map, you’d tap the search magnifying glass and type in the name and then “Go”. The search box should come up with the routes matching that name. Tap the one you want, and the map should open showing the name next to the pin.
The downside of putting every detail available on one map is that it makes it horrendously cluttered, and it makes Avenza run slow. So while there are several ways of opening .kml/.kmz files, the advantage of putting the file on your phone is you can add it when you need it and delete it when you don’t (Map Features, touch and hold Climbing Areas, touch the three-dot menu in the upper right corner of the screen, delete).
